The New Jersey chapter is growing and welcoming professional advisors who help business owners plan for a successful exit. As we continue to follow a case study approach addressing all of the various considerations associated with a successful exit, we welcome your attendance at our next meeting. Our ‘client’ is a partnership that wants to position itself for an exit in two to three years. As with most companies, there are some issues that need to be resolved to make the transition, and ultimate exit, a success.
How can the owners of Murphy’s Metal Manufacturing determine a fair price for their business, if they choose to seek a liquidity option? Todd Povlich of MPI, will go through the basics of valuation to help the management of Murphy’s better understand realistic valuation expectations, as well as provide insight on how to assess the quality and reliability of the analysis. The presentation will review the primary methodologies used in a valuation assignment, as well as some of the key questions to ask and issues to watch out for when reviewing the valuation, such as:
- Are different values common for a strategic buyer versus a financial buyer?
- Typical normalization adjustments and when they should be applied
- How previous transactions in company stock can affect value
- Discounts to value related to sale of minority interests
- When to plan for an exit and what aspects to consider from a valuation standpoint
This highly interactive session will allow for participation by attendees in a collaborative format. As an association of experienced advisory professionals for business owners and their companies, we are all focused on delivering the highest level of subject matter expertise to our clients and we would value your expertise and insights.
We invite you to join us for this exciting event and for the entire series this year!
To make it easy to remember, we’ll always meet on the 3rd Wednesday morning of each month through June 2018, so please set up a recurring calendar appointment now so you won’t miss an XPX breakfast!
